Narrative in Augmented Reality

"StargazeAR: Exploring the Universe Through Augmented Reality"

Concept Overview:

StargazeAR is an educational Augmented Reality (AR) project that aims to improve astronomy learning experiences. The project makes use of augmented reality technology to create an immersive and interactive learning environment, allowing students to explore the universe in a more engaging and hands-on manner.

Statement of Need:

Astronomy is a complex and fascinating subject that can be difficult to grasp using traditional methods of instruction. The use of augmented reality technology provides an opportunity to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge by allowing learners to visualize and interact with astronomical concepts in ways that textbooks and lectures alone cannot.

Concept Description:

StargazeAR is an augmented reality app that lets users view and explore the universe in 3D. Users can explore the solar system, explore constellations, and learn about various celestial bodies such as planets, stars, and galaxies. The application displays celestial bodies in real-time using real-time data, allowing students to observe the sky in real-time. StargazeAR would also include interactive quizzes and challenges, allowing students to put their knowledge to the test and reinforce their understanding of astronomy concepts.

Target Audience:

StargazeAR is designed for learners of all ages who are interested in astronomy. The application is particularly useful for learners who have difficulty visualizing astronomical concepts or who prefer a more hands-on approach to learning.

Learning Goals:

StargazeAR's primary learning goal is to improve learners' understanding of astronomy concepts such as the solar system, constellations, and celestial bodies. In addition, the project aims to improve learners' spatial awareness and observation skills. Learners can test their knowledge and reinforce their understanding of astronomy through interactive quizzes and challenges.

Learning Theories:

Constructivism and situated learning are two learning theories that StargazeAR incorporates. StargazeAR facilitates constructivism and situated learning by utilizing AR technology to create an immersive and interactive learning environment, allowing learners to actively engage with astronomy concepts in a meaningful way.

  • Constructivism emphasizes the importance of learners actively constructing their knowledge through experience and interaction with the models in the environment.

  • Situated learning focuses on the importance of learning in context, enabling learners to apply their knowledge in real-world situations.
